Second Grade Pedestrian and Bicycle Safety Unit

This program runs during the school year.

The Safe Routes to School program offers a Pedestrian & Bicycle Safety Unit to all 2nd grade students in Cambridge Public Schools. For pedestrian safety, the concepts of crossing streets and intersections safely are taught and practiced in the real world. Students also learn how to navigate a parking lot lacking sidewalks. For bike safety, students learn how ensure a bike is safe to ride, basic maintenance, rules of the road, hand signals, and helmet fit. Students also receive a free helmet.
